Notebox App
With frustrated fingers, I type in tiny monospaced text, “DispatchQueue.main.async{},” around a generous block of code. “Building…Succeeded…Running…Fatal Error.” Humph! This painstaking process would continue for a year until careful maneuvering of functions, variables, pagination, backend structure, and asynchronous code finally resulted in NoteBox App. The tedium could have burned me out, but I am a composer and traverse through reams of manuscript before making it contentedly to the end of each orchestrated journey. Ultimately, I realized that I only needed to move “completion()” from line 791 to 792, again, strikingly similar to the composition process wherein that inner voice whispers “hmm…that doesn’t sound right,” and the disquietude is assuaged by raising a single F natural up a semitone.
This process of making composition more intuitive is what I aspired to improve through NoteBox—an app that optimizes a digital space for young composers and instrumentalists to brainstorm and collaborate.
